Ana Moura

| Portugal

pdf logo brief information Ana Moura

Ana Moura is one one the most outstanding Fado-Singer of her generation. This exceptional artist comes from a family of musicians and manages to hypnotise her audience through her voice and her only presence. Her work and collaborations with the composer Jorge Fernando, who has also played with the great singer Amalia Rodrigues, has enriched her repertoire to such an extend, that the most demanding critics speak of her in glowing terms.

Her distinguished voice has given her within a very short time, a loyal fan base throughout Europe. Her admirers include the Rolling Stones, who visited a performance of the artist in a Fado local while they were touring Portugal in 2007 and invited her to their concert in the Stadium of Lisbon to sing a duet with Jagger. Also Prince is a fan of this unique singer.

In 2003, her first solo album “Guarda-me a Vida na Mão” was realeased, followed by Aconteceu (2006). Due to the success of this albums, both in Portugal and internationally, Ana Moura started to tour throughout the world, including an European tour and an US tour, where she prestigiously performed in the Town Hall (New York). With her third album, “Para Além da Saudade” (2007), she renewed the enthusiasm of her audience and critics and kept on touring successfully.

On “Para Além da Saudade”, Ana Moura deepened her creative partnership with Jorge Fernando and interpreted pieces from Custódio Castelo and from other great songwriters. The Grammy winner Tim Ries, from the Rolling Stones, is also to be found as co-composer and musician on this album. Her new album “Leva-me aos fados” was published in October 2009 in Portugal and rose to number 2 in the charts. Many critics describe this album as the best of Ana Moura. The album is available in Europe since spring 2010.

For performances, Ana Moura presents herself with an outstanding, classical guitar-trio. The European tour will take place in September/November 2010 and in February 2011 and for this occasion, as well as for other concerts in 2011, we would be very pleased to receive your requests!
