Balkan Beat, Ska

A Polish bagpipe player, a German tuba player, a Czech trumpeter, a singer from the bloodline of a genuine Gypsy King, a DJ from Bosnia, West and East Berlin drummer and percussionist - an explosive mix of street music, club sounds and Berlin snout tells of the smell of the big city and makes properly fire under the butt!. As multicultural as Berlin itself are the musicians - what a luck for BerlinskiBeat, because the music do primarily fun. Boundless!
Südwest Presse Ulm – 06.09.2010
„Full of Balkan music. That was the sound of the finale of the Donaufest, which attracted thousands of people to the city.“
“…The Balkans? They begin in Neukölln. At least that is was Norbert Drescher, who grew up there with oriental music in
his ears, purports. Today, Drescher is the percussionist of one of the most successful German bands: Corvus Corax, who
already knocked some international stars of hard rock at festivals down a peg with their medieval sound…
Dance rhythms from the Balkans, in proper style accompanied by the ‘goc’, the oriental drum, played in a repetitive, mesmerizing
way by canny professionals, who know that the amusement of the audience depends on the fun the musicians
have on stage. And the Berliner had fun and swept their audience away at an early stage. This is how it has to be, as the
Balkan collective doesn’t have more than an hour of music in their program yet. Indeed, the first album is still in the making
in the studio. And so, the band played their Berlin reminiscence, an oriental version of the march “Berliner Pflanze”, again
as encore. BerlinskiBeat? That has a lot of live-potential, and the live premiere at the Donaufest was a real highlight.”
