Through the release of their current studio album, Upon the Bridge, Groundation are showing the world where they’ve been and where they’re going The album marks the groups’ first world-wide release to every continent and got top reviews in the major press around the world.
Groundation was founded in the fall of 1998 when three long time musicians Marcus Urani, Ryan Newman, and Harrison Stafford came together to form the core of the pioneering sound. The band combines elements of jazz and dub music with a highly demanding Rootssound. Harrison Stafford the charismatic frontman and the voice of the band gives the music a 100 percent distinctive character.
In 2006 Groundation released their first dub album ever, Dub Wars. Impressive reviews including 3 1/2 of 5 stars from Rolling Stone Magazine who said, “This collection gives the dub treatment to tracks from the group’s stellar albums Hebron’s Gate and We Free Again, adding a hypnotic resonance to their groove-based songs.” followed. The Riddim magazine wrote about the previous album "We Free Again", “... not only for me it’s one of the best current and timeless roots reggae albums ever. ".
In 2007 the band played for over 45,000 people in Morocco, 10,000 people in Sao Paulo and Brazil.
Furthermore they headlined the Summer Jam festival 2007 in Germany.Their 2007 European summer tour took them for the first time to Norway, Denmark, Greece, and finally to the UK where they were welcomed by a sold-out crowd at the Jazz Café in London. In addition to that, they performed to their growing audience in France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, and Holland. But also in the USA the development of the band advanced very well. They have played sold out shows up and down the west coast and had great shows in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and Montana as well. See you 2009 in Germany, Peace out.
