Unlike barely any other band before LOS CALZONES ("the pants") from Buenos Aires, Argentina, have been dominating the ska-scene of Latin America for more than 2 decades. They are in the same league as bands like LOS FABULOSOS CADILLACS and SKA-P.
Founded in 1988 in Buenos Aires, the music video „Ska del Novio“ from their 1991 debut album, became one of the most viewed video clips in Argentina. The following album „Porrompompero“ (1993) went platinum in Argentina and gold in Chile.
In spite of having a major deal, record productions in the USA, big tours through Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia with more than 250 000 viewers, the songs never lost their socially critical message and their satirical comments. As an unavoidable consequence it resulted in a heavy dispute between the un-progressive argentine press and the band, after LOS CALZONES commented too harshly on the large number of “disappeared” individuals during the dictatorship in Argentina in the 1980´s.
The straight political attitude brought even more abiding fans to the band and another platinum album followed. The band played a lot of shows especially in Argentina and Chile.
LOS CALZONES celebrated the millennium, being the Latin American support for their idols BAD MANNERS (20 shows with more than 100.000 viewers). Their next album “Plastico” (2001), included Argentinean Hits from the 80´s in a modern SKA style. With this set of tracks LOS CALZONES went on tour through the USA, the Caribbean and Europe for the first time.
With their large number of shows and their record releases in Europe 2005 (“Plastico”, „Frequencia Extrema“), LOS CALZONES attracted even more fans and listeners to their unique music. “Dance till you faint” is the device if you visit one of their concerts. You can experience this feeling by listening to their new album “Tanquito” as well. From October 2008 on the album has been available in several parts of Europe.
The time finally came! We shouted it out loud: LOS CALZONES came to Europe for a third time (summer 2008). The SKA legends from South America invite you to dance, party, sing, scream, jump and have a good time!
