The real strength of Mil Santos is his charisma and powerful, solid live performance: His philosophy is “not to impress, but to express, to touch people and especially share a musical experience with the audience”. Most recent example of this was the incredible feedback we got from promoters, media and audiences during his tour as support for Culcha Candela across Germany, Austria and Switzerland - 18 tour dates each with 1,500-2,000 visitors per evening! His furious, candid musical approach on stage enthused thousands of spectators…without a doubt there will be a lot to hear from Mil Santos in the near future!
His first radio interviews and online promotion were given recently with exceptional feedback, together with the 4 Track EP that was released last October for the big tour, a sort of teaser for the debut album which will be released in spring 2010, with contributions from international musicians, guest artists and renowned producers. More information about the album will follow soon! A release tour is planned for spring, in order to present the CD and get ready for the summer festival season 2010!
Mil Santos reflects influences from all over the world: he sings passionate, thoughtful lyrics in
Spanish, English, and German with a danceable modern beat and feeling. The band unites artists from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, USA, Germany, Colombia and Peru creating a synergy of cultures and joyfulness of life converging in a natural way into a unique musical interactive journey! The powerful percussions and brass sounds meet modern beats and rhythms. This Latin troubadour with its genre-mixture of traditional Latin American influences, combined with rap and hip hop elements guarantees an impulsive live performance. However, without the numerous heroes of the salsa history, Mil Santos would not exist. He knows his roots! Though unlike the music of most of the old Latin American artists, Salsa is never the main focus of Mil Santos’ songs but rather the discreet conduct that transmits almost unperceived feelings of tradition within the focus of modern music. This is what differentiates him from many commercialized, world music infected pop artists: the music of Mil Santos is not only modern, but also authentic and honest.
